My affection (sometimes grudging) for Ewan McGregor never wanes but my complete, unadulterated love has peaks and troughs. It's impossible to maintain such a fevered obsession indefinitely (although my sister has done an admirable job with Doctor Who for the past *counts...* four years). So the fact that lately I've taken to staring at pictures of him for un-documented amounts of time has lead me to believe that I am at a peak with The Sexy, Scottish One at the mo.

And then I remembered the upcoming gay prison romance story that is I Love You Phillip Morris starring Jim Carrey, Ewan McGregor and Rodrigo Santoro and I spent most of the night squeeing over the trailer, interviews and Sundance feedback.

Ack! I don't really want to link to the film poster, it's a little bright and scary please see for yourself, so here's a less luminous alternative:

LJ has not been working for me the past few days (i.e. ever since I came back to Manchester...) but I have finally found a window of opportunity. Hopefully it will last until tomorrow morning so that I can catch up on my flist. In the meantime I'm finally going to air this entry that I have been working on on-and-off for a few weeks. I like to think that this is some sort of service that I'm providing here, but it's entirely subjective and my own personal fank-wank to the extreme. An on-going WIP.

While in my [insert fandom here] obsession I've been very put-out by how hard it is to find my favourite videos and wot-not with them spread out over YouTube, LiveJournal, Delicious, etc. Here is my constantly and ever-in-progress definitive list of favourites, alphabetical by fandom (because if it was organised by preferred fandom, I'd have to change the order at least fifty times per year). As it stands, by quantity and detail we can play Spot the Current Favourite...

Right, so to fill the gaping hole left in my life by my dissertation (and never would I have guessed that I’d miss being busy grasping at straws), I’ve channelled my considerable obsessive tendencies into compiling a somewhat scary (see also: terrifying, bloodcurdling, creepy and frightening) Victoria & Albert, come The Young Victoria, come that-Prince-Albert-was-a-lovely-gorgeous-man-beast picspam. I saw the BBC’s Victoria & Albert with Victoria Hamilton and Jonathan (Colin’s little brother) Firth when it aired in 2001 and fell in love with Albert a little bit. [info]thedreamygirl, [info]solitary_zero, Housemates Kathryn, Emma and I saw The Young Victoria a couple of weeks ago and righteously fell in love with him proper through the medium of Rupert Friend.

Such is the Power of Albert. I have also discovered that VLC can cap shots- a wonderful new era has dawned for me as a fangirl.

It's a terrible day to be in Britain, to be British, etc. The British National Party have acquired two European Parliament seats. People have voted for Nazis. They use words like 'assimilation' and 're-settlement' and it sickens me to the depths of my soul that stupid, stupid, disgusting and/or misinformed people have given such scum credence. And then there's the apathy that have allowed them to gain seats. Yeah- and they're holocaust deniers as well.

Hope Not Hate: The Real BNP

Recession and housing scandals are partly to blame. There is a little good news in that Nick Griffin's car was attacked as he tried to make his way to Manchester's town hall. He had to enter via the back surrounded by minders. People were boo-ing and hissing as BNP victors gave their acceptance speeches but from the same group of people he had secured his lead. But bloody hell- this should be illegal.

John Barrowman is a love. I adore the man. He is shamelessly shameless and seemingly a big, gorgeous idiot and he makes me laugh and smile like few others.

Warning: Thinly veiled Doctor Who spoilers

It has been a few years since I first saw The New World and even longer since it was released, so this is nothing new but I could not resist constructing a collection of the images that I could scavenge while on a Google Search. So much beautiful.

And today I find out that Kat Dennings has secured herself a Twitter account. I know that this business has been going on for a while but for somebody who spends so much of her time online I am incredibly uninformed about such things. But I do know that my level of stalking just got that little bit scarier. Eighteen hours ago she declared her love for Flight of the Conchords, because she and they are awesome. Help me!

Edit: Also- news of The Time Traveler's Wife- Warner Bros. have moved the release date from February 2010 to August 14th this year. Bloody genius'. But yey!

Bedtime now- last seminar tomorrow. Like, ever. *tiny wail*

Goodnight, hope that all is well xXx

This needs to be shared. It was introduced to hardcore Lord of the Rings fans like myself, [info]sophieisgod and Housemate Kathryn by an ambling friend (who is nevertheless very dear to me). It makes me wonder how much more juicy stuff is out there that I am not aware of. Please do share- any fandom- I love re-edits and the like.

Contains one instance of profanity-

Yeah, so... back to the essay.

Hope that all is well xXx

I haven't spent the past three days watching Oscar videos, but that is not too far from the truth. As a result I came across eleven year old Anna Paquin's Oscar win and speech from 1994. Bless her little self- she walks off the stage and back into the audience at the end.
